Toy News: Sideshow Collectibles Granted License for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Sideshow Adds Turtle Power To Its Collectible Offerings

Sideshow Collectibles, a world leader in the manufacturing of licensed and proprietary product, has signed on to create a new line of collectible statues and dioramas based on the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book series, published by Mirage Studios. Launched in 1984, the first issue was intended by creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird as a one-issue parody of major comics at the time. When fans clamored for more, an iconic franchise was born. This year marks the 25th anniversary "Shell-ebration" of the brand, with TMNT comics and an upcoming live-action motion picture in the works. Sideshow is expected to introduce its unique line of TMNT product to the market shortly.

From their underground home in the sewers of New York City, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fight petty criminals, evil masterminds and even aliens. Trained by their sensei, Master Splinter, these anthropomorphic heroes are skilled ninja warriors, and though their activities remain unknown to society, they defend humanity from the dangers of the underworld.
